Amazon quietly opened its Creator Shop program to any creator with 1,000 followers three weeks ago, and the early conversion data is in. According to three agencies managing creators on the platform, Creator Shop storefronts are converting at 4.2 percent, compared to 2.8 percent for TikTok Shop and 1.9 percent for traditional Amazon affiliate links.

How Creator Shop works

A creator applies through the Amazon Associates dashboard. If approved, they get a custom storefront URL with their branding, curated product collections, and shoppable video content. The storefront supports short-form video natively, meaning a creator can post a product review and have the buy button right below it without redirecting to a separate product page.

The key difference from affiliate links is that Creator Shop storefronts are destinations, not links. A creator drives their audience to a persistent URL that Amazon indexes in search. That means the storefront generates organic traffic in addition to the traffic the creator sends, which is something neither TikTok Shop nor affiliate links do.

The conversion data

The three agencies, which collectively manage roughly 400 creators on the platform, shared early data under the condition that their clients remain unnamed. The headline number is 4.2 percent conversion across all categories, but the breakdown is more interesting.

Beauty and skincare are converting at 6.1 percent, which is the highest of any category. Kitchen and home are at 3.8 percent. Electronics are at 2.4 percent, which is lower than affiliate links for the same category, likely because electronics purchases are more research-driven and less impulse-driven. The agencies say the conversion lift is driven by two things: the video-native format and the Amazon Prime checkout, which removes friction that exists on every other platform.

The TikTok Shop comparison

TikTok Shop has been the benchmark for creator-led commerce for the last year, but the agencies say Amazon is winning on conversion for a simple reason: trust. A TikTok Shop purchase requires the user to enter payment information inside TikTok, which has a higher abandonment rate than Amazon one-click checkout. Amazon Creator Shop uses the existing Amazon checkout, which means the conversion funnel is shorter.

The tradeoff is discovery. TikTok Shop gets distribution through the For You feed, which is the most powerful content discovery engine on the internet. Amazon Creator Shop gets distribution through Amazon search and the creator own audience, which is a smaller funnel. The agencies say the best strategy is to use TikTok for discovery and Amazon for conversion, which is what several of their clients are already doing.

What it means

Amazon entering creator commerce at this scale changes the economics. TikTok Shop proved that creators can sell products. Amazon Creator Shop is proving that creators can sell products more efficiently when the checkout infrastructure already exists.

The 1,000-follower threshold is the lowest of any major creator commerce program. TikTok Shop requires 5,000 followers for its affiliate program. YouTube Shopping requires 1,000 subscribers but limits participation to select markets. Amazon is betting that the checkout advantage will compensate for lower creator quality at the entry level, and the early data suggests they are right.

The question for creators is whether they want to build their commerce business on a platform they do not control. Amazon owns the customer relationship, the checkout, and the search ranking. A creator who builds their entire business on Amazon Creator Shop is one algorithm change away from losing their traffic. That is the same risk as TikTok Shop, and it is the reason most agencies are advising clients to build on both platforms simultaneously.
